PT Marenc International Technologies is seeking a hands-on Chemical Formulation & Product Development Engineer to join our technical team in Jakarta.
This is a core R&D position supporting the development, optimization and industrialization of specialty chemical solutions for energy, water and industrial applications.
The successful candidate will work directly with Marenc’s technical leadership on formulation development, laboratory evaluation, raw-material selection and preparation of products for manufacturing and commercial qualification.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, optimize and evaluate specialty chemical formulations.
- Conduct laboratory experiments, screening studies and performance evaluations.
- Evaluate surfactants, solvents, additives, functional ingredients and alternative raw materials.
- Prepare experimental formulations and maintain accurate laboratory records.
- Design structured development programs and compare formulation performance against defined targets.
- Conduct stability, compatibility and application-related testing.
- Troubleshoot formulation and product-performance issues.
- Support scale-up from laboratory formulation to pilot and manufacturing batches.
- Prepare formulation instructions, product specifications and manufacturing-transfer documentation.
- Work closely with suppliers to evaluate raw-material alternatives and technical information.
- Support preparation of TDS, technical specifications and other product-development documentation.
- Supervise and guide laboratory technicians during sample preparation and testing.
- Maintain confidentiality and disciplined control of proprietary formulation information.
Candidate profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Approximately 3–6 years of hands-on formulation or product-development experience preferred.
- Demonstrated practical experience in laboratory formulation development.
- Experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable:
- Surfactants and surface-active formulations
- Emulsions and demulsification systems
- Dispersants and wetting agents
- Industrial cleaning chemicals
- Oilfield production chemicals
- Water-treatment chemicals
- High-salinity or difficult industrial fluid systems
- Specialty performance additives
- Strong understanding of experimental design, formulation optimization and laboratory documentation.
- Able to interpret technical data and convert results into practical formulation improvements.
- Familiarity with laboratory safety and chemical handling requirements.
- Strong problem-solving ability and attention to reproducibility.
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving product-development environment.
- Working proficiency in English is preferred.
